I had set my goal to 100 books last year at read about 50 to 60, cramming a bunch of books at the end of the year because I felt bad about not finishing the challenge.
This year I set a more reasonable goal of 52, about a book a week which should be a lot more manageable. Of course I want to try and read more then that but if not that is OK too as long as I meet that goal.
I like the pressure/competitiveness of the reading goal but also understand how its not for everyone.
